Encountering Your True Identity in Our Lady of the Good Death

How would you like to be more free? Of white patriarchy? Of shame? Of fear? Of addiction to certainty? Of people-pleasing? Of…?

We will take time to listen to the longings of our souls as they help us connect with the ways that we have personally been burned by whitemalegod’s fire. Through embodied practice, we will also allow those longings to guide us to the power of Our Lady of the Good Death, the Black Madonna of Clermont-Ferrand, France – whose very name reminds us that death always leads to life, and that whitemalegod never gets the last word.

As we examine our burns and give voice to our hopes for healing, we will wrap ourselves in Our Lady of the Good Death’s always loving and always protective embrace.

In this session you will:

  • Turn within to discern how Our Lady of the Good Death is steadying your unique steps toward freedom

  • Discover what you and your fellow pilgrims can teach each other about surviving whitemalegod’s fires and encountering your true identity

Please note that breakout rooms are not recorded, so there was about 12 minutes of silence towards the end of the recording. We encourage you to use that time to journal, engage in movement, or whatever else that feels supportive to you! 🌿

JOURNAL PROMPTS

“I could talk about ________________”

List the practices that you’re already doing that nourish you, your community, and/or society

Now choose one of those practices and journal or think about how they will support your pilgrimage journey – in other words, what are the resources that are already available to you as you continue on your journey?

Take a few minutes and notice – what did you feel in your body as you reflected on the ways you are already resourced?

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

A special note from Christena: Beloved pilgrims, you do not need to “prepare” for each pilgrimage stop. Please come as you are. The Black Madonna doesn't need you to "study" and "practice" incessantly in order to be on this journey. However, we are offering additional resources as a way to support and nourish you on this journey and as a point of connection between you and your fellow pilgrims.
